for some reason all of the reviews that first pop up for me are all 5 star reviews from 4 years ago (mine), 11 years ago and 13 years ago, respectively but the reason for the update: we came back here a few weeks back and i think whatever incredible value we might have previously enjoyed is now gone due to general inflation -- which is to say the gap between this restaurant and others on a cost/quality basis is no longer so wide overall, still good, but maybe not up to my expectations, given the pricepoint we are now at everywhere today thank you for all the sushi throughout the years, all the same

This place is definitely a hidden gem. It's tucked away and not the most obvious place. Plenty of parking available in the lot. Staff is very sweet and welcoming. Everyone greets you as you enter and leave the restaurant. Service was quick and efficient. The restaurant itself is pretty small. We sat at the bar where the TV was. They have 20% off beer, which was a plus. Price here is affordable and quality was great in my opinion! Definitely recommend trying this place if you're in the area. Food review: Complimentary gyoza and bluefin: (5/5) Super unexpected, but very much appreciated. These were both delicious! The beef gyoza had a great flavor and texture. The bluefin was buttery soft and the ball was a fun treat! In & Out roll: (5/5) This was delicious! Simple with a little kick and super fresh. Finding Nemo: (5/5) Tasty and the sriracha was a nice spicy note. Sushi nigiri: (10/5) OMG. This was so buttery soft and delicious. I had 2 orders. You can get with or without wasabi. I got them without.

ive been craving sushi for awhile now but could never find a place that stood out to me that i wanted to try until i found sushi imari on yelp! this place has a plethora of raging reviews and its for a good reason. we came on a friday for dinner around 5:30pm and there was already a lot of people inside eating but luckily no wait. the place itself is pretty spacious and theres a lot of tables, bar seating, and even a separate area on the side for bigger parties. we ordered the sushi + spicy tuna roll combo, sashimi combo, salmon teriyaki bento, spider roll, & a half order of the in n out roll. everything was SUPER good and we devoured every little bit of it. they also gave us gyoza on the house for an appetizer which i thought was super nice. my favorite thing about this place is how fresh and beautiful the fish is!! just look at that slab of fish! it's so colorful and bright and tasted amazing. the cuts of fish they give you for both the nigiri and sashimi are also pretty big and filling. their salmon teriyaki was also well cooked and seasoned for those who don't eat raw fish. their spider rolls were humongous and had a good serving of soft shell crab inside. the in n out roll was also good but not as memorable as the other dishes but i love that you can get a half order of all the main rolls. this place is phenomenal. the prices are average for a sushi place but its definitely worth it for the servings and quality of fish. i will definitely be returning when i am craving some fresh sushi!

Came to Sushi Imari in Costa Mesa after reading great reviews and seeing high ratings on Yelp. I arrived at 5 pm and there was only one group ahead of us, so we were seated within 5 minutes. Our drink orders were taken promptly, which was a nice start. While waiting, they gave us fried dumplings, which were delicious. As more people arrived, our server Canu got busy, but another server, Bella, stepped in to take our order. I appreciated how the staff worked together to ensure a smooth experience for their customers. We ordered Bento combos with two different options: sashimi (6 pieces), one with Salmon Kama, and the other two with beef Teriyaki. All combos came with miso soup, salad, and rice. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes, which was impressive considering how quickly the restaurant filled up. The restaurant itself was very clean, adding to the pleasant dining experience. The sashimi was fresh and came in large pieces, while the Teriyaki beef was tender and flavorful. The Salmon Kama was also delicious. Overall, I was very satisfied with both the food and the service. I requested extra wasabi and gluten-free soy sauce, and the staff was always attentive and accommodating. I definitely recommend Sushi Imari for its excellent food, great service, and clean environment. My Personal Rating : 4.36 Food 4.1/5 Service 4.5/5 Price 4.3/5 Ambiance 4.3/5 Cleanliness 4.6/5

The sushi quality is so incredibly good. I have no words, honestly. I also LOVE the fact you can get half a roll. It's perfect, and the service was incredible.

Took takeout on a Friday night and was an overall great experience. We ordered a good amount of rolls that all were fresh and good rice to fish ratio. Everything was packaged nicely for the to go order. To go on a Friday night took about an hour from my call in which would be expected. Inside dining look very busy but moving. You can walk in and sign your name on the board and they will text you when a table is available. Will update review when I eat in one day! Overall really good quality sushi for the price and portions.
